【Note:
The limit of stay in Macao of holders of a PRC Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao and an Endorsement to Macao is subject to their Endorsement. The limit of stay in Macao of holders of a PRC passport and other transit documents is granted for the purpose of transit only. Therefore, unless the holders of the above documents are unable to leave Macao because of force majeure (e.g. confinement to the hospital due to traffic accident, flight cancellation, etc.), we will consider to handle their limit of stay exceptionally.】
4.Special Authorization to Stay for Non-resident Students (Individual Application)
●The employer (or the legal representative) may bring the valid “Employment Authorization” granted by the Labour Affairs Bureau and other necessary documents to the Residence and Stay Affairs Department to apply for the “Authorization to Stay for Non-resident Workers”. Once approved, a “Non-resident Worker’s Identification Card” will be granted.
●When the employment relation is terminated, the non-resident worker and the employer (or the legal representative) should bring the necessary documents to the Residence and Stay Affairs Department to complete the cancellation formalities.
●Persons who intend to apply for residence in Macao as an investor, managerial personnel or technical personnel with specialized skill may apply to the Trade and Investment Promotion Institute. After the application is approved, the applicant should apply to the Residence and Stay Affairs Department for a “Receipt of Residence Authorization / Residence Authorization Renewal ”(“Residence Receipt”) and then to the Identification Bureau for a “Macao Non-permanent Resident Identity Card” with the "Residence Receipt".

●Other persons who intend to apply for residence in Macao may apply to the Residence and Stay Affairs Department. After the application is approved, the applicant will be issued a “Residence Certificate” or “Residence Receipt”, with which the applicant may apply to the Identification Bureau for a “Macao Non-permanent Resident Identity Card”.
  1. Target Groups: Individuals who need to extend their "Authorization to Stay" .
  2. Individuals who need to extend their Authorization to Stay for not more than 90 days are required to make the application in person or by a legal representative 5 days before the Authorization expires.
  3. Individuals who need to extend their Authorization to Stay for more than 90 days are required to make the application in person or by a legal representative 10 days before the Authorization expires.
  4. The Residence and Stay Affairs Department can refuse to accept applications which are submitted later than the above limited period or applications which obviously lack a justification.
  1. Non-resident students who intend to take a higher education program at a higher institute in Macao may apply for Special Authorization to Stay (aka Authorization to Stay – student type) and renewal of the Authorization if the limit of stay granted in the original Authorization to Stay is not long enough for them to legally stay in Macao for study.
  2. Students whose passport / travel document or "P.R.C. Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao" (together with the ‘Type D – Stay’ endorsement) is expiring and so are not granted ‘Authorization to Stay - student type’ that expires as stated are required to submit copies of the relevant documents to the Subdivision concerned for ‘reposition’ as soon as they finish extending the expiry of the document.
