Question:
“Contactless e-Channels” allows Hong Kong Permanent Residents aged 7 to 10 to clear immigration through facial recognition technology. Does the automated immigration clearance in Macao adopt the same technology for the underage Hong Kong residents?
Answer:
After the last-said underage persons enrolled for Macao’s automated immigration clearance service, they are required to verify their identity by scanning their fingerprint during traditional automated immigration clearance in Macao. Alternatively, subsequent to the registration of the automated immigration clearance, they can also enroll for the “iris channel”, with which identity is verified through iris recognition for immigration clearance.
