Question:
I have married to a Macao resident for a year already and got a non-permanent resident identity card. However, I fell out with my husband lately and am planning to divorce him. Will my identity card be confiscated?
Answer:
Since you were granted Residence Authorization and hence a non-permanent resident identity card for the reason of reunion with your spouse in the first place, a change in your marital relation at this moment may affect your residence status. Generally, the authorities will revoke your Residence Authorization (or reject your application for renewal of the Residence Authorization) because the prerequisite for the original approval no longer exists.
