When using the Smart Immigration Clearance service at the joint inspection automated channels, passengers need not take the initiative to present their identity document. However, they must carry their physical identity document for identity verification by the frontier inspection officers when necessary.
For instance, if a passenger’s facial features or fingerprint data verification fails when passing through an automated channel, he or she is required to present the physical identity document to the on-site police officers. Clearance is permitted only after identity information is verified.
