Frequently Asked Questions > Immigration > Using Iris Recognition for Immigration Clearance

Question:
When using the “iris automated channel”, can I refuse to register my iris biometrics?
Answer:
Yes. If passengers do not wish to register their iris biometrics when using the “iris automated channels” for immigration clearance, upon completion of fingerprint verification, the system will prompt the passenger to confirm whether they consent to the registration of their iris biometrics. At this point, passenger may select “Disagree” on the screen, upon which immigration clearance will be completed and the gate will open. Passengers may also take note of the light box indications upon entering the automated channels. Should they prefer not to register their iris biometrics, they may opt to proceed through the general automated channels or the “iris automated channels” without the self-registration function.
