Frequently Asked Questions > Immigration > Using Iris Recognition for Immigration Clearance

Question:
What should I pay attention to when using iris recognition for immigration clearance? Are there any limitations?
Answer:
To allow the scanner to quickly detect the eyes, passengers’ faces must not be covered by any objects (such as masks, sunglasses, hats, etc.) when registering iris biometrics or using the “iris automated channels”. Wearing colored or patterned contact lenses may also result in a failure to scan and compare iris biometrics. Furthermore, as the iris scanner is designed to collect biometrics within a height between of 1.2 m and 1.9 m, individuals whose height exceeds 1.9 m are required to make appropriate adjustments accordingly.
