Frequently Asked Questions > Immigration > Using Iris Recognition for Immigration Clearance

Question:
What should I pay attention to when using iris recognition for immigration clearance? Are there any limitations?
Answer:
When registering the iris biometrics and when using the “iris automated channel”, the face cannot be covered by anything (e.g.: mask, sunglasses, hat, etc.) to allow the scanner to quickly detect the eyeball. Colour contact lenses may lead to failure in biometrics collection and comparison. In addition, the height suitable for collection of iris biometrics ranges from 1.2m to 1.9m. Therefore, it is possible that the use of the “iris automated channel” may be limited by the height.
