Question:
Who are eligible to use iris recognition for immigration clearance? How to register?
Answer:
Iris automated clearance is available to individuals who are at least 1.2 m in height and belong to one of the groups below:
1.
Macao residents who are at least 7 years of age.
2.
Hong Kong permanent residents who are at least 7 years of age and have completed registration for Macao’s automated immigration clearance.
3.
Non-resident workers who have completed registration for Macao’s automated immigration clearance are eligible (excluding family members of non-resident workers). Mainland residents are not required to undergo separate registration for Macao’s automated immigration clearance. They only need to authorize the competent authorities of Macao to access their fingerprint information when applying for the Exit-entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao.
4.
Non-resident students enrolled in local higher education institutions who have completed registration for Macao’s automated immigration clearance are eligible. Mainland residents are not required to undergo separate registration for Macao’s automated immigration clearance. They only need to authorize the competent authorities of Macao to access their fingerprint information when applying for the Exit-entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao.
Individuals aged 18 or above may complete registration upon their first use of the “iris automated channels” equipped with a self-registration function. Alternatively, individuals aged below 18 or those who are unable to complete registration at the aforesaid “iris automated channels” may proceed to the following locations during the specified hours to undergo manual registration of iris biometrics.

Eligible individuals aged between 7 and 17 who have not yet registered for Macao’s automated immigration clearance may, upon arrival in Macao, proceed to the said locations to simultaneously complete both the registration for Macao’s automated immigration clearance and for iris automated clearance.
