Does registration for iris automated clearance automatically confer eligibility to the use of “Smart Immigration Clearance” (i.e., immigration clearance without the presentation of identity documents)? Conversely, does registration for “Smart Immigration Clearance” automatically confer eligibility to proceed through immigration clearance via iris verification? |
Iris automated clearance is, at present, applicable solely to traditional two-gate automated channels, and passengers are still required to present either the QR Code for border crossing or a travel document upon entering the channels. “Smart Immigration Clearance” (i.e., immigration clearance without the presentation of travel documents), on the other hand, does not require the active presentation of any document, and is, at present, applicable solely to the joint inspection automated channels (joint express inspection channels)”. Therefore, the two must be registered separately and are not mutually applicable. |
