Question:
Can underage Hong Kong residents aged 7 or above use iris automated clearance for immigration?
Answer:
Hong Kong permanent residents aged 7 or above and of a height of 1.2 meters or above, provided they have registered for Macao’s automated immigration clearance, may register for iris automated clearance through a manual registration process. Eligible Hong Kong permanent residents aged 7 to 17 are required to attend any of the designated registration locations in Macao, accompanied by a parent or guardian, and must present the applicant’s original birth certificate together with the identity document of the accompanying parent or guardian. Where the applicant is accompanied by a guardian, legal documentation evidencing the guardianship relationship must also be produced. As the identity cards issued to Hong Kong permanent residents aged 7 to 10 bear no photograph, such applicants are additionally required to produce their Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Passport for verification during registration.

Currently, iris recognition for automated immigration clearance is not extended to Hong Kong non-permanent residents.
