Frequently Asked Questions > Immigration > Using Iris Recognition for Immigration Clearance

Question:
After registering my iris biometrics for immigration clearance, is fingerprint clearance not an option anymore?
Answer:
Upon registering for iris-based immigration clearance, passengers retain full discretion to proceed through immigration via either iris verification or the fingerprint verification method they were previously using. The “iris automated channels” are equipped to support both modalities of the said verification. Should a passenger who has registered his or her iris biometrics choose not to utilize iris recognition on any given occasion, he or she may present his or her fingerprints for verification either within the “iris automated channels” or, alternatively, at any of the general “automated clearance channels” where fingerprint verification remains available.
