Identity Document Lost in Zhuhai (not involve criminal incident*) |
Effective from 16 February 2015, Macao residents who lost their “Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents” (so-called “Home Return Permit”) in Zhuhai do not have to apply for a report of loss at the local police stations. They may, within office hours, proceed directly to the China Travel Service (Zhuhai) Gongbei Port Service Station, located in the Gongbei Port Exit Hall, to apply for the one-time “Exit-Entry Permit”, valid for a single exit. After obtaining the Permit last-said, they may complete clearance procedures at the Exit Hall for returning Macao. If the document service counters there stop accepting applications, Macao residents may call 0756-8167000 to seek assistance from the Gongbei Immigration Inspection. Alternatively, they may report the loss to the local police authority and then apply to the local Exit-Entry Administration for a one-time “Exit-Entry Permit”. Applicants may also choose the application route best suits their individual circumstances.
In addition, effective from 19 August 2016, if you have lost your “Home Return Permit” in the Mainland and you are a Macao resident who has registered for the Automated Passenger Clearance System with the Immigration Inspection Authorities of the Mainland, you may proceed directly to the Gongbei Port to seek assistance from the immigration officers in case of an emergency requiring immediate return to Macao. Upon completion of the required clearance formalities, you may depart for Macao.

Identity Document Lost in Hong Kong (not involve criminal incident*) |
Effective from 11 January 2016, a Macao resident if losing his or her Macao Permanent Resident Identity Card, passport or travel document that was used for entering Hong Kong, and at the same time no alternative documentation can be used for departure, as long as this does not involve any criminal incident then he or she may proceed directly to the border control point at the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan, the China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui, or the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. Both the declaration of loss and all the required clearance formalities can be handled together during a single visit there. If an individual has registered for Hong Kong’s Automated Passenger Clearance System, when Hong Kong’s Immigration Department received his or her written consent, identity can be verified through the verification systems. This negates the need for a cross-border identity check with the relevant authorities in Macao, a step that can otherwise takes longer to complete. Consequently, the eligible Macao residents are advised to pre-register for the Hong Kong Automated Passenger Clearance System. This not only offers the convenience of expedited passage on visits to Hong Kong but also ensures rapid identity verification and swift return to Macao should identity document be lost.
