If a non-resident student taking a program at a higher education institution in Macao loses his or her entry document during the studies in Macao and does not have an alternative document for departure, he or she may seek assistance by following the instructions below: |
| I. |
When discovering that his or her entry document is lost, the non-resident student should stay calm first. Then, he or she should check if any other belongings are lost and if criminal element is involved (e.g. theft or robbery of the document, etc.). |

If only the entry document is lost: |

(1) |
The non-resident student who is a Mainland resident losing his or her Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao but with no alternative travel document may go directly to the Immigration Building of the Public Security Police Force for report of the loss of the document as well as for application for a Loss of Document and Report Notification. |

(2) |
The non-resident student who is a Hong Kong resident losing his or her Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card/Re-entry Permit/Hong Kong Document of Identity for Visa Purposes/Hong Kong SAR Passport or other Hong Kong travel documents may go to the Immigration Building of the Public Security Police Force for report of the loss of the document as well as for application for a Declaration of Loss of Document*.
* Note: If the student is holding a valid vehicle ticket, he or she may go directly to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Checkpoint for report of the loss of the document as well as for departure clearance. If the student is holding a ferry ticket valid for departure within 3 hours, he or she may go directly to the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal Checkpoint or the Taipa Ferry Terminal Checkpoint for report of the loss of the document as well as for departure clearance. |

The non-resident student who is neither a Mainland nor a Hong Kong resident may go directly to the Immigration Building of the Public Security Police Force for report of the loss of the document as well as for application for a Declaration of Loss of Document. |

If other documents and belongings are lost or criminal element is involved (e.g. theft or robbery of the document, etc.): |

The non-resident student who is a Mainland resident should report the case to the police authorities first. After obtaining a Case Report Certificate or a Case Reporting Receipt, the student should go to the Immigration Building to apply for a Loss of Document and Report Notification. |

(2) |
The non-resident student who is a Hong Kong resident should report the case to the police authorities first. After obtaining a Case Report Certificate or a Case Reporting Receipt, he or she may go to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Checkpoint to complete the departure formalities. If the student is holding a ferry ticket valid for departure within 3 hours, he or she may go to the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal Checkpoint or the Taipa Ferry Terminal Checkpoint for departure clearance. Otherwise, the student should go to the Immigration Building of the Public Security Police Force to apply for a Declaration of Loss of Document. |

(3) |
The non-resident student who is neither a Mainland nor a Hong Kong resident should report the case to the police authorities first. After obtaining a Case Report Certificate or a Case Reporting Receipt, the student should go to the Immigration Building to apply for a Declaration of Loss of Document. |
| II. |
A non-resident student who goes to our Immigration Building for a departure document should apply to the relevant authorities in Macao/Hong Kong/Mainland China for reissue of the entry document before the departure document expires. If the student continues to remain in Macao after the departure document expires and without other valid Authorization to Stay, he or she will be regarded as overstaying in Macao. |

Hong Kong residents may apply to the relevant document issuing department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for reissue of the entry document; |

2. |
Others may apply to the consulate or diplomatic representation of their country or region in Macao/Hong Kong/Mainland China for reissue of the entry document. |

Non-resident students are advised to confirm the appointment date with the consulate or diplomatic representation in Hong Kong/Mainland China before setting off. Otherwise the student may be refused entry. |
| III. |
If the original Authorization to Stay of a non-resident student is cancelled before the expiry of the departure document, that departure document will expire accordingly on the same date. The student should either leave Macao within the limit of stay granted or go through relevant procedures at the Residence and Stay Affairs Department. Otherwise he or she will be regarded as overstaying in Macao. |
| IV. |
Besides the above-mentioned ways of departure, a non-resident student from Mainland China holding a PRC Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao can go directly to the Departure Office of the Border Gate Checkpoint to request for urgent return to the Mainland. The student will be allowed to re-enter Macao and continue his or her studies only after he or she obtains a new PRC Permit and the relevant endorsement. |
| V. |
After obtaining the reissued entry document, the non-resident student should bring it to our Residence and Stay Affairs Department for update of the document information and reissue of the “Slip of Authorization to Stay”. |
