  *** Attention ***

Before the "Special Authorization to Stay" is granted, the non-resident worker's reuniting kindred are staying in Macao as visitors. Their limit of stay is restricted to a certain extent. In fact, applications for "Special Authorization to Stay" can be made by non-resident workers in Macao, and only the reuniting kindred of non-resident workers who are recognized as "with specific qualification and beneficial to the Macao SAR" are eligible. Besides, it takes a relatively long period for examination as we have to consult the Labour Affairs Bureau. Therefore, in order to avoid any inconvenience aroused from the limited validity of the "Authorization to Stay" granted to visitors, the reuniting kindred concerned should come to Macao only after the "Special Authorization to Stay" is granted.
  Documents to be Presented
The original should be exhibited for authentication if a copy is submitted

2) 1 recent colour photo of 1.5-inch, full face, no-hat, white-background.
  D.
Upon completion of the procedure specified in Point C, the reuniting kindred will immediately be granted "Special Authorization to Stay".
  Charge (or Tax)
  Free of charge
  Time Needed

Approximately 50 days (Processing time starts from the first working day after the service unit receives all the necessary documents and confirms nothing is missing)
  Remark
  A.
Generally, the expiry of the "Special Authorization to Stay" granted to the reuniting kindred is the same as that of the "Authorization to Stay for Non-resident Worker" (and of the "Non-resident Worker's Card"). However, the "Special Authorization to Stay" granted to minor reuniting kindred expires on the day he/she becomes an adult.
  B.
When the non-resident worker applies for renewal, reposition or cancellation of his/her "Non-resident Worker's Identification Card", he/she should apply for renewal, reposition or cancellation of the "Special Authorization to Stay" of the dependant as well. [Note: For details, please see the application procedure for the renewal, reposition or cancellation of the "Special Authorization to Stay" for Reuniting Kindred of Non-resident Workers.]
  C.
After the Subdivision receives the notification letter of employment termination or employment authorization revocation, the relevant "Authorization to Stay for Non-resident Worker" (including the "Non-resident Worker's Card") and the reuniting kindred's "Special Authorization to Stay" will be revoked (even though the Authorization is not expiring). Under such circumstances, if the non-resident worker and his/her reuniting kindred continue to stay in Macao without getting another "Authorization to Stay", they will be considered to be overstaying starting from the day following the revocation of the original "Authorization to Stay".
Therefore, as soon as the non-resident worker acknowledges the employment termination or employment authorization revocation, he/she should go to the Subdivision immediately with his/her reuniting kindred for certain cancellation procedure. Upon completion of the procedure, they will be granted another "Authorization to Stay" for departure arrangement for not more than 10 days (if necessary).
  D.
The dependants of a non-resident worker are prohibited from working in Macao (except otherwise stipulated in the law).
  E.
Penalty for overstay

1.
According to Administrative Regulation No. 14/2014 'Amendments to the Provision on Overstay in the 《Regulations of the Entry, Stay and Residence Authorization》', persons who still stay in the Macao SAR but not over 30 days after the expiry of the authorization granted is fined MOP500 per overdue day from 9/7/2014. The violators are required to pay the fine immediately after they are arrested or report themselves to the police. The above mentioned penalty regulation is not applicable to those who have overstayed in Macao within one year. Those will be considered to be illegal immigrants if they do not pay the fine and the penalty regulation is not applicable to them. Moreover, they cannot make any application for Residence Authorization, extension of Authorization to Stay and Authorization to Stay for Non-resident Workers within two years to the Residence and Stay Affairs Department.
2.
According to Law No. 6/2004, persons who are considered to be illegal immigrants will be deported and interdicted from entry to the Macao SAR for the period indicated in the deportation order.
  F.
If the non-resident worker / reuniting kindred of the non-resident worker / "Special Stay Permit" holder renews the passport / travel document / "Two-way Exit Permit" / identification document used for application for the "Authorization to Stay" in Macao, he or she is required to bring the renewed document to the Subdivision concerned for update of the document information and application for reissue of the "Slip of Authorization to Stay".
