Application for Macao Visa through Diplomatic Missions of the People’s Republic of China (China) or other Representative Offices Accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China
  Introduction (Service Coverage)
  1.
Persons who are not exempted from a ‘visa’ or ‘Prior Authorization to Enter’ [Note: Please refer to the Persons Exempted from a ‘Visa’ or ‘Prior Authorization to Enter’ by Law] can apply for a ‘visa’ for the Macao Special Administrative Region, but not a ‘visa-upon-arrival’ or ‘Prior Authorization to Enter’, in advance through the diplomatic missions of China or other representative offices accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
  2.
Starting from 1 July 2010, nationals of the following 6 countries are required to apply for a Macao visa in advance through a diplomatic mission of China or other representative offices accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. They cannot apply for Authorization to Enter and Stay (so-called ‘visa-upon-arrival’) at the immigration checkpoint upon arrival at Macao. Nonetheless, the officials of the diplomatic missions of these countries and officials of the representative offices of various international organizations stationed on Chinese territory and their family members can apply for ‘visa-upon-arrival’ with their passport, diplomatic/consular identification card or administrative/ technical staff identification card at the Macao immigration checkpoints.

Apply to the diplomatic missions of China or other representative offices accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China
  Documents to be Presented
 
The requirements of the diplomatic missions of China or other representative offices accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China shall prevail.
The original should be exhibited for authentication if a copy is submitted.
  Required Documents
  Documents to be submitted according to purpose of visit:
  A. For the purpose of study at a higher education institution:
    1.
A completed Visa Application Form; [Note: The form is available at the Subdivision concerned and the website of the Public Security Police Force.]
    2.
Copy of bio data page of valid passport/travel document;
    3.
Proof of financial status (e.g. latest bank statement, savings account deposits, etc.);
    4.
Admission document and other relevant documents issued by higher education institution in Macao;
    5.
Proof of transportation and accommodation arrangements (e.g. document of admission to student hostel issued by higher education institution, etc.);
    6.
Any other information as requested by Subdivision in special circumstances.
  B.
For the purpose of work:
    1.
A completed Visa Application Form; [Note: The form is available at the Subdivision concerned and the website of the Public Security Police Force.]
    2.
Copy of bio data page of valid passport/travel document;
    3.
Copy of proof of employment authorization granted by Macao authorities (i.e. the Application for Authorization to Stay as Worker approved by Residence and Stay Affairs Department of Public Security Police Force); [Note: The original of this document is not required.]
    4.
Any other information as requested by Subdivision in special circumstances.
  C. For the purpose of stay as family of non-resident workers:
    1.
A completed Visa Application Form; [Note: The form is available at the Subdivision concerned and the website of the Public Security Police Force.]
    2.
Copy of bio data page of valid passport/travel document;
    3.
Copy of approval notification (i.e. the letter notifying the non-resident worker's family member of the granting of "Special Authorization to Stay"); [Note: The original of this document is not required.]
    4.
Any other information as requested by Subdivision in special circumstances.
  D. For the purpose of group tour:
    1.
A Visa Application Form completed by members of group tour to Macao; [Note: The form is available at the Subdivision concerned and the website of the Public Security Police Force.]
    2.
Letter of guarantee by travel agency organizing the group tour and name list of tour members;
    3.
Information of local travel agency organizing the group tour;
    4.
Copy of the bio data page of all tour members’ valid passport/travel document;
    5.
Proof of transportation and accommodation arrangements for tour group (e.g. round-trip flight bookings, hotel reservation receipts, etc.);
    6.
Proof of financial status of all tour members (e.g. latest bank statement, savings account deposits, employment proof, etc.);
    7.
Any other information as requested by Subdivision in special circumstances.
  E.
For other purposes (e.g.: individual travel, family visit, stay or reside as dependant, etc.):
    1.
A completed Visa Application Form; [Note: The form is available at the Subdivision concerned and the website of the Public Security Police Force.]
    2.
Copy of bio data page and used inside pages of valid passport/travel document;
    3.
Proof of financial status (e.g. latest bank statement, savings account deposits, employment proof, etc.);
    4.
Proof of transportation and accommodation arrangements (e.g. round-trip flight bookings, hotel reservation receipts, etc.);
    5.
Proof of purpose of visit (e.g. copy of proof of stay/residence status or Macao Resident Identity Card of kindred in Macao, proof of kinship, etc.);
    6.
Copy of inside pages (of travel document) used for travel to Macao before (if any);
    7.
Copy of valid entry visa or residence visa/permit of other countries or regions (if any);
    8.
Any other information as requested by Subdivision in special circumstances.
   
 
Note:
Vietnamese nationals applying for a ‘Macao visa’ through a diplomatic mission of China in Vietnam are required to submit a copy of their Vietnamese identity card, proof of address in Vietnam/household registry document along with the application.
  Supplementary Document
 
The requirements of the diplomatic missions of China or other representative offices accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China shall prevail.
  Charge (or Tax)
  1. Regular application: USD30, an additional USD15 per accompanying child
  2. Additional charge:
    (1)
Communication fee of relaying to the Public Security Police Force: USD20
    (2)
Express fee: To be collected in accordance with the current express charge standard of the diplomatic missions of China
[Note: Charges relating to a Macao visa are collected by the diplomatic missions of China or other representative offices accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in accordance with the regulations. Please make enquiries to the relevant mission or office for the specific charge standard.]
  Time Needed
  Regular service:
Expected to be ready for collection on the fourth working day (applications that do not have to be relayed to the Macao Public Security Police Force)
Vetting process of the Macao Public Security Police Force usually takes 7 working days from the day all the required documents are correctly prepared (applications that have to be relayed to the Macao Public Security Police Force)
  Express service:
Expected to be ready for collection on the third working day (applications that do not have to be relayed to the Macao Public Security Police Force)
  Urgent service:
Expected to be ready for collection on the second working day (applications that do not have to be relayed to the Macao Public Security Police Force)
 
[Note: Macao visas are issued by the diplomatic missions of China or other representative offices accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in accordance with the regulations. Please make enquiries to the relevant mission or office for the processing time.]
  Remark
  1. Types of Macao visa:
    (1) Diplomatic visa;
    (2) Official visa;
    (3) Ordinary visitor visa.
  2. Validity of Macao visa, number of entries and limit of stay:
    (1) Valid for single entry within 3 months, 14 days of stay;
    (2) Valid for 2 entries within 3 months, 14 days of stay;
    (3) Valid for multiple entries within 6 months, 14 days of stay;
    (4) Valid for multiple entries within 1 year, 30 days of stay;
    (5) Valid for multiple entries within 2 years, 30 days of stay.
  3.
According to Article 4 of Administrative Regulation No. 38/2021, during entry to the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), non-residents’ passport, travel document and any other document accepted for the purpose of immigration control should be valid for at least 90 days beyond the intended period of stay in the Macao SAR.
  4.
According to Term 1, Article 21 of Law No. 16/2021, through the visa or other specific advance procedure, non-residents should declare their purpose of entry to and stay in the Macao SAR. According to Item (2), Term 1, Article 22 of the Law, the prior authorization can be revoked under the condition that “it is confirmed that the requirements for granting prior authorization are not met”. According to Subitem (4), Item (1), Term 2, Article 35 of the Law, after entering Macao, if the conduct of the non-residents obviously deviate from the purpose underlying the authorization, the Authorization to Stay can be revoked by the Chief Executive in written instructions. Furthermore, according to Term 1, Article 36 of the Law, the revocation of the Authorization to Stay based on the above reasons determines that the non-resident is prohibited from entry to the Macao SAR for three months and may result in the imposition of an entry ban.
  5.
According to the Chief Executive’s Written Instructions No. 167/2021, non-residents are required to possess appropriate means of subsistence in order to enter and stay in the Macao SAR. According to Law No. 16/2021, non-residents who fail to prove that they possess the appropriate means of subsistence for their intended period of stay or the resources for purchasing the return transportation ticket will be refused entry to the Macao SAR according to the law. Their application for the relevant visa or authorization will also be rejected.
  6.
According to Term 1, Article 66 of Law No. 16/2021, the application for a visa, Authorization to Enter and Stay, Macao SAR Residence Authorization, renewal or extension of Residence Authorization is equivalent to the applicant consenting to have his or her personal information, which includes his or her biometric data, processed by the Public Security Police Force.
