  Introduction of Service
(Service Scope)
 
People who are not exempted from a visa and entry permit【Note: Go to ‘“Visa” and “Entry Permit” Exemption’ for details.】can apply to the Immigration Department by a representative for “Authorization to Enter and Stay” before they come to Macao if they do not want to apply for an Entry Permit (aka “visa-upon-arrival”) and there is no Chinese embassy, consulate or diplomatic representation in their place of residence to help them apply for a Macao visa in advance.

  Entry and Departure of Non-residents
  Application for Macao Visa through Chinese Embassy or Consulate
  Extension of “Authorization to Stay”
  Target People & Requirement
 
Visitors who are not exempted from a visa and entry permit.
  Application Means
  1.
Interested person or a legal representative applying to the Chief Executive through the Immigration Department;
  2. The legal representative should submit the following:
    (1) A certified authorization letter;
    (2)
1 photocopy of his or her valid identification document (the original document should be presented for verification).
  Necessary Documents
[Note: Unless specified, the original document should be presented for verification if a photocopy is submitted.]
  Documents to be submitted according to purpose of visit:
   I. For the purpose of studying at a higher institute in Macao
    1.
A completed application form (Format 1), and Format 9 form if family members are included; [Note: The forms are available at the subdivision providing the service or accessible from the CPSP website.]
    2.
Copy of the bio data page in a valid passport/travel document;
    3.
Document of financial status (e.g. bank statement, deposit in savings account, tax payment receipt, etc.);
    4.
Admission document of the higher institute in Macao;
    5.
Round-trip air ticket reservation receipt (if the course to be taken lasts for less than 6 months).
  II.
For the purpose of working as a non-resident worker
    1.
A completed application form (Format 1), and Format 9 form if family members are included; [Note: The forms are available at the subdivision providing the service or accessible from the CPSP website.]
    2.
Copy of the bio data page in a valid passport/travel document;
    3.
A copy of the proof of employment approval by the Macao authorities (i.e. the application form of "Non-resident Worker's Authorization to Stay" or the application letter of "Renewal of Non-resident Worker's Authorization to Stay" that passes the examination of the Immigration Department). [Note: The original document is not required; submit the copy only.]
  III. For the purpose of staying in Macao as family of a non-resident worker
    1.
A completed application form (Format 1), and Format 9 form if family members are included; [Note: The forms are available at the subdivision providing the service or accessible from the CPSP website.]
    2.
Copy of the bio data page in a valid passport/travel document;
    3.
A copy of the approval letter (i.e. notification letter of granting “Special Authorization to Stay” to the non-resident worker’s reuniting family). [Note: The original document is not required; submit the copy only.]
  IV. For the purpose of visit to Macao by joining a tour group
    1.
Letter of guarantee by the travel agency organizing the tour group and name list of the tour members;
    2.
Information of the travel agency in Macao assisting in organizing the tour group;
    3.
Copy of the bio data page in the valid passport/travel document of the tour members.
  V.
Other purposes (e.g. individual travel, family visit, residence on dependent basis, etc.)
    1.
A completed application form (Format 1), and Format 9 form if family members are included; [Note: The forms are available at the subdivision providing the service or accessible from the CPSP website.]
    2.
Copy of the bio data page and used pages in a valid passport/travel document;
    3.
Document of financial status (e.g. bank statement, deposit in savings account, tax payment receipt, employment certificate, etc.);
    4.
Document of transportation to Macao and accommodation arrangement (e.g. round-trip air tickets and hotel room reservation receipts, etc.);
    5.
Document to prove the purpose of visit (e.g. copy of residence document of the family in Macao, Macao ID card of the family in Macao/document of kinship, etc.);
    6.
Inside pages in the travel document which had been used for admission to Macao (if any);
   
7.
Valid entry visa or residence visa/permit of other countries or regions (if any).
  Documents to be Presented
 
Unless specified, the original document should be presented for verification if a photocopy is submitted. If the original document cannot be presented, the photocopy should be a certified copy.

  Approximately 15 working days 【Note: It depends on the state of the case.】
  Remark
  1.
“Authorization to Enter and Stay” granted according to Format 2 document should be used within 120 days from the date it is granted. Otherwise, it will become invalid. The holder can stay in Macao for the period indicated in the Authorization (generally 30 days from the date of arrival).
  2.
The holder can enjoy multiple entries within the limit of stay granted upon arrival and is not required to apply for a visa or “Entry Permit” (aka “visa-upon-arrival”).
